Spicy Strawberry Rosé: Your New Favorite Spring Cocktail

When the days get longer and the afternoons start to stretch, the best wines are the ones that don’t ask too much of you.

This Spicy Strawberry Rosé is exactly that — bright, refreshing, a little unexpected, and built around our 2024 “DG” Rosé of Pinot Noir. It takes everything we love about rosé and turns it into something even more playful: juicy fruit, citrus lift, and just enough heat to keep things interesting.

It’s the kind of drink that works whether you’re hosting friends, putting together a last-minute dinner, or just sitting outside with a glass and nowhere to be.

Why Rosé Works So Well in Cocktails

Rosé is naturally one of the most versatile wines to mix with. It brings:

  • Fresh red fruit character

  • Bright acidity

  • A lighter body that plays well with citrus and herbs

In this recipe, those qualities are layered with strawberries for sweetness, lime for balance, and jalapeño for a subtle kick. The result is something that feels equal parts cocktail and wine — easy to drink, but far from boring.

Spicy Strawberry Rosé Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle DG Rosé (750ml)

  • 1 jalapeño, chopped

  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped

  • ¼ cup lime juice

  • 4 oz simple syrup

  • 1 cup club soda

Garnish: strawberries & lime wheels

Directions

  1. Add jalapeños and strawberries to a pitcher and gently muddle.

  2. Add rosé, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice. Stir to combine.

  3. Refrigerate for about 2 hours to let the flavors come together.

  4. Top with club soda and stir lightly.

  5. Strain into wine glasses over fresh ice.

  6. Garnish with fresh strawberries and a lime wheel.

When to Serve It

This is one of those drinks that doesn’t need a specific occasion, but somehow makes every occasion better:

  • Spring and summer afternoons

  • Backyard dinners and BBQs

  • Brunch (yes, this absolutely qualifies)

  • Beach days or picnics

  • Happy hour that turns into dinner

A Different Side of Rosé

At Dutton-Goldfield, we’re known for vineyard-driven wines, but this is a reminder that wine can also be simple, social, and just plain fun.

This Spicy Strawberry Rosé leans into that idea — something a little unexpected, a little playful, and very easy to come back to for another glass.
