FAQs

  • Our co-founder and winemaker, Dan Goldfield, is stepping back after over 26 years of crafting exceptional wines at Dutton-Goldfield Winery. As the creative force behind our award-winning Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Dan has played a pivotal role in shaping our winery’s legacy and defining our signature style.

  • Dan Goldfield officially stepped back from day-to-day operations on February 28, 2025, however, will maintain the title of “Winemaker Emeritus” as he departs from operations. Leading up to this transition since 2022 when winemaker Melissa Stackhouse was hired, he has been working closely with our winemaking team to ensure a seamless handover.

  • While Dan’s leadership will be greatly missed, Dutton-Goldfield Winery remains committed to the same dedication to quality, terroir-driven winemaking, and innovation. Our winemaking approach will continue to honor the traditions and expertise that have defined us and this region for decades.

  • Melissa Stackhouse, who joined Dutton-Goldfield in 2022, will assume full leadership of winemaking and custom crush services, continuing the winery’s legacy of excellence. A highly respected veteran in Sonoma County winemaking, Melissa has an impressive background that includes leadership roles at La Crema, J Vineyards & Winery, and Constellation Brands. Stackhouse has a profound appreciation for cool-climate viticulture and a meticulous approach to crafting wines of purity and precision. In addition to leading Dutton-Goldfield’s winemaking, she will oversee the winery’s expanding custom crush program, ensuring the same commitment to quality and innovation that has defined the brand for over two decades.

  • Our commitment to producing high-quality, expressive wines of place remains unchanged. While we will continue to evolve and refine our offerings, our focus will always be on delivering wines that reflect the spirit of Russian River Valley, West Sonoma County and our cool-climate vineyard sites.Item description
