SANCHIETTI
(Pinot Noir)
Sanchietti Vineyard is one of Dan Goldfield's
early favorite Pinot vineyards in the Russian River Valley, from his
La Crema and Hartford Court days. Located in the heart of Green Valley
on a protected south- and east-facing hillside, this older planting
once went only to make sparkling wine. In the 1990s that was rectified,
when its incredible potential for still wine was recognized. We were
lucky enough to get a portion of the vineyard for Dutton-Goldfield with
the 2002 harvest, and it has become one of our single-vineyard designate
pinots beginning with that vintage. Its thin soils produce fruit of
high tannin and color, exceptional intensity, dark berry flavors and
exotic spice characteristics.
